WHY NO SATURDAY HOURS?

The main reason we don’t have Saturday hours is that I want to maintain a quality of life for my employees. We are open 10 hours a day, 5 days a week. We are trained professionals, and we work with our hands as well as our minds. In my opinion, if we were to push the envelope any further we would be risking quality for the sake of a few dollars. We work on brakes and suspension. Our mistakes can do more than ruin somebody’s day: we could be placing someone’s safety at risk. I will not allow that.
I see many local dealers going to Saturday hours in the name of customer convenience. The reality is that they are using it as a profit center. An idle lift makes no money. They tell employees that they had to start working nights and weekends to meet existing customer demand, and then increase their advertising to fill the shop with work. I have many friends in this business who are unhappy with that situation. I don’t want my people to be a part of that crowd. It is my belief that in the end my customers and employees are better served by not compromising on this issue.

WHY NO FREE LOANER CARS?

We do not offer free loaner cars because nothing is “free.” The internal costs of a loaner car, including insurance, depreciation, etc., come to nearly $35.00 a day. Someone has to pay for that. The dealer has to “find” that $35 profit somewhere just to break even. We believe it is more honest for a rental car to be used when necessary and for customers to know exactly what they’re paying for without having to guess where the cost was “hidden.”

HOW DO YOU KEEP UP WITH ALL OF THE CHANGES?

We read, we study, we discuss, and we have connections around the world. We have over a million pages of documentation on CD-ROM. We belong to an international organization of independent Mercedes Benz repair shops, and we all submit our unusual problems and fixes via the Internet. We receive 10 to 20 emails a day that we archive. We also have the ability to put our tough problems out there for ideas. Combine this with annual training seminars, trade journals and over a hundred collective years of experience exclusively on Mercedes Benz and there isn’t much we can’t handle.

WHAT ABOUT ALL THE SPECIAL TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT?

We have more than $100,000 dollars invested in Mercedes specialty tools, software and equipment. We also custom make our own tools to make our day (and your bill) easier. This commitment is wholly consistent with our assumption that we are going to be around for a very long time.

MY CAR IS UNDER WARRANTY. CAN YOU STILL HELP?

We can help. First any maintenance work that we perform satisfies the factory warranty requirements. You are not required to go back to the dealer for anything that you have to pay for, and you are protected in this by Federal Law. We service many cars that are still under warranty. In fact, we often find warranty items that owners don’t know need attention. We send them back to the dealer with a laundry list of actions the owner is entitled to under the factory warranty. It is our opinion that many dealers do not “look” for warranty problems because the wholesale rate that Mercedes reimburses them is so low that they would rather wait until the car is out of warranty and they can charge “full retail”. We believe that this explains why so many cars “fall apart” as soon as the warranty runs out.

WHAT IS YOUR WARRANTY POLICY?

We warranty all repairs for 90 days or 4,000 miles. In addition, any part that costs over $100 is warranted for one year or 12,000 miles. There are also specific warranties on specific items such as engines, transmissions, etc. The most important thing to know about our warranty is that we want to be fair to all of our customers and will always do our best to stand behind our work. Our business has thrived because of this and we don’t intend to ever change.
